Do you like this festivity? Do you know how this tradition starts?

Actually, it’s a Celtic tradition. When Celts lived in  Britain and Ireland they started a new year on November 1st , All Souls Day. For they, that  day was the end of summer and the harvest.

The Celts believed that the souls of the dead visited Earth on the last day of October. They had a festival in honor of these souls of the dead, and they called it Samhain. October 31st became All Hallows Eve, a time where the ghosts of the dead could return to destroy the harvest that was stored for winter.

Nowdays, we celebrate this tradition in a diferent way. We dress up with costumes and ask for candies after saying a rythmn  ‘ Treat or trick’  door by door.
